9/27/2023 0 Comments System shock 2 mods with updateIt may be a little long-winded, but it works for me. I'll copy out the method I use to install it on XP Pro. The game will autosave in the last available slot (like it's supposed to) when moving to a new level, but if I press Alt + S it quicksaves to both slot 10 and the autosave slot! Bizarrely, if I quicksave (which, as I've said, saves to both slots), move to a new level (which leaves the quicksave in slot 10 intact but autosaves to the last slot, like it's supposed to) and then quickload, the autosave in the last slot is replaced by the quicksave that's also in slot 10, even though I've just loaded and not saved! It's madness, and is driving me potty.I've tried every combination I can think of to get this to work. Added bind s+alt "shk_save_game 10" and bind l+alt "shk_load_game 10" to user.bnd and of these methods works. Added bind s+alt "shk_save_game 10" and bind l+alt "shk_load_game 10" to user.bnd.4. Edited the existing bind s+alt and bind l+alt entries in user.bnd and user2.bnd.3. Edited the existing bind s+alt and bind l+alt entries in user.bnd.2. For example, to save to slot 10 instead, add the following lines to your user.bnd file:bind s+alt "shk_save_game 10"bind l+alt "shk_load_game 10"Using slot 10 to make regular saves will now, of course, over-write your quick-saves, but making level transitions will not.'I used the DOS prompt to perform my edits, but to no avail.Here's what I've tried:1. In order to avoid this problem, you can rebind the quick-save and load keys (alt-S and alt-L) to save to a different save-slot.
