The area offers visitors a remarkable glimpse into this part of Eastern Washington’s unique geology and history, combined of course with a dramatic view of Palouse Falls itself. One campsite at Palouse Falls Campground is ADA accessible. Palouse Falls State Park, known for its namesake 200-foot tall waterfall, is a wonderful place to visit this spring.Stay on designated trails in the park, as those that are not can be unsafe and sometimes veer onto private property.The waterfall is viewable from the parking lot, while a short, third-of-a-mile trail veers through nearby grassland.Birds of prey abound with peregrine falcons nesting in the cliffs and golden eagles hunting around the falls. Birdwatchers during this time of year should also keep an eye out for white-throated swifts, yellow warblers, and horned larks. Visit in spring or early summer to see the surrounding shrub-steppe plateau covered in vibrant green new growth and to see water flow over the falls, thanks to early-season glacial melt. Campsite fees are payable by cash or check only, and additional vehicle fees apply.Vehicle lengths are limited to up to 20 feet. The campground features only 11 tent-only campsites, each of which can accommodate two tents and up to four people. All campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and fill up quickly on weekends and holidays.
